As Director of Real Estate Development, John’s responsibilities include creation of project assumptions for financial proforma analysis, negotiation of letters of intent and lease agreements, negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, negotiation of local and state economic incentives for projects, working with local municipalities and towns to implement new infrastructure for projects, coordination of development project proposals and maintenance of business relationships with our projects’ various stakeholders. Whew! How John has time to listen to his favorite bands like Led Zeppelin, Arcade Fire and The Black Keys is a mystery to us.
John works directly with legal counsel and debt and equity providers to structure transactions and joint venture relationships, when appropriate. He also interfaces with project architects, engineering firms and surveyors to manage development and construction risk through the life of the development projects.
Prior to joining Browning Investments, John was an Attorney at Meridian Title Corporation in Indianapolis. His responsibilities included coordination of real estate closings, performance of search and exam duties, and development and maintenance of customer relationships through a number of different avenues.
John received his J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana. John received his B.S. in Finance from the University of Dayton and he earned his designation as a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). Although very accomplished, apparently the sky does have it’s limits. As John puts it, “I greatly dislike birds. And I’m keeping my eyes on the squirrels too.”
